* 1986 -- The Kennewick Dusters exploded for six hits and seven runs in the third inning to win the first game 9-5 and begin a sweep of an American Legion baseball doubleheader over The Dalles, Ore. Paul Williams was the winner for the Dusters in the opener while Ed Fleck took the win in the 8-7 nightcap victory.

* 1969 -- Richlander Robert Lee Moore moved into third place in the Canadian Soaring Championships at Innisfail, Alberta. Moore took his glider 2551/2 miles for 806 points and an aggregate 2,512 points.

* 1956 -- At 15-years-old, Gary Floan of Orofino, Idaho, became the youngest golfer ever to qualify for the Tri-City Amateur championship flight. The Tri-City area also had a teenager in the championship flight in Wayne Brewder, who long had been a winner or contender in junior tournament play.
