* 1988 -- The Kennewick Dusters didn't even get to play on the opening day of their own annual baseball tournament as the Seattle Rainiers got stuck in a traffic jam on the way to the Tri-Cities.

* 1984 -- John Eynon of Richland, driving a 1984 Camaro, set a Tri-Cities Raceway track record in the NASCAR Super Stocks in a time of 19.37 seconds in winning the the Super Stock Division at the Mid-Season Championships. Dave Dunkelberger of Pasco won the Bomber Division.

* 1956 -- Two soldiers from the 5th Group at Camp Hanford won the doubles competition in the 31st Brigade badminton tournament at McChord AFB in Tacoma. They were Pfc. Donald L. Bradley and Pfc. James D. O'Keefe.
