* 1987 -- The Kennewick Dusters won three straight loser-out games to win the Richmond Auto Body American Legion Tournament in Vancouver, B.C. Jeremy Smith, who was named the tournament's best pitcher, threw a three-hitter in the semifinal game and tossed four innings in the championship to earn both wins.

* 1982 -- Grandview turned to an old face to fill its vacant head football coaching job as Rich Leenhouts returned to the role he previously held with the Greyhounds in the early 70s.

* 1981 -- Jeff Corbally knocked in six runs in the first game of a sweep of Pullman with a home run, a double and a single while Larry Sherman, Dave Cortez and Tim Utecht added two safeties apiece in the Dusters' 14-3 win.
