* 1966 -- The Tri-City Atoms opened a 10-day road trip with a 3-1 victory over the Eugene Emeralds and Yakima launched its home season with a 9-6 win over the Lewiston Broncs. It left Northwest League defending champion Atoms knotted for first place with Yakima, both with 3-2 records.

* 1966 -- Former CBC scoring ace Don Parsons hit 45 points as the Carps tripped the Celtics 81-77 in a Kennewick Recreation Summer Basketball League game.
