Mildred and Wayne Rathbun

Mildred and Wayne Rathbun, of Kennewick, celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary May 15. They were married May 15, 1941, in Caldwell, Idaho.

Mildred and Wayne were honored at a reception of family and friends May 23 at the home of their son, Monty and Virginia Rathbun.

They made their living and raised their family, farming and ranching in southern Idaho from 1941-89. They grew mostly potatoes, wheat, hay and livestock.

The couple retired and moved to Washington to be near family in 1989. They purchased a home in Connell where they had productive vegetable and berry gardens. They lived there from 1995 until 2006 when they moved to Kennewick.

They have four children, Monty and Virginia Rathbun of Kennewick; Carol and Gary Chapman of Richland; Corrin Rathbun of Kennewick; and Phil Rathbun of LaGrande, Ore.

They have 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
