Beautiful Father's Day today after kind of a rough, rainy Saturday night. The skies are clear and a nice breeze is blowing from right to left field.
Ricardo Ferrer is starting for Tri-City. He's a right-hander who pitched at Casper last season, and he'll go up against Everett righty Jose Campos, who went 8-2 last season in the Venezuelan Summer League.

So far, Ferrer has the first word. He had a very efficient first inning, retiring the side on six pitches.
Campos, on the other hand, hit Timothy Smalling with one out and then balked him over to second base. Tyler Massey then doubled down the right field line to score Smalling and give the Dust Devils a 1-0 lead.

Ferrer was cruising through the top of the third inning until he faced the No. 9 hitter, Jarrett Burgess, who clocked a belt-high fastball on a 1-1 count over the left field wall to tie the score at 1.
That may have rattled Ferrer a bit, because he then gave up an infield single and a run-scoring double to Marcus Littlewood. Before the home run, he had retired eight in a row.
Things could have been worse if first baseman Jordan Ribera hadn't made a great scoop out of the dirt on a long throw by third baseman Dominic Altobelli.
Ribera might have a lunch coming to him from Altobelli. That's the second scoop out of the dirt today. The first came in the top of the second.
Everett now leads 2-1.

If you take away the three-batter hiccup in the third inning, Ferrer has been spotless.
Since Littlewood's RBI double, Ferrer has set down 10 in a row. After six innings, I've got him at 68 pitches, and he's at a 75-pitch limit tonight, so he'll get some relief from left-hander Ken Roberts.
The sad thing is, as well as Ferrer has thrown, he's still on the hook for the loss.

It's remained a pitcher's duel through 8 1/2 innings.
Not many chances for either offense as the starters and relievers on both sides has been amazing. After Ferrer left in the sixth, Ken Roberts came on for two scoreless innings, and Stephen Head followed with a scoreless ninth.
Everett has been equally terrific. With Campos going six full, followed by two shutout frames by Tim Griffin.
The Dust Devils got the first baserunner on in the ninth with a leadoff walk to Brian Humphries. After a failed bunt attempt by Timothy Smalling and a foul out to first base by Tyler Massey, Tri-City got a break when Everett third baseman booted a grounder from Jared Simon, putting Humphries at second as the tying run.
And how about Jordan Ribera, the rookie first baseman who made those great defensive stops before. He went with the outside pitch from Griffin and looped it over third base to drive in Humphries and tie the score.
Looks like the Dust Devils may have some clutch hitting after all.
Going to the 10th inning tied at 2.

The great pitching continues through the 11th, but Everett is stirring in the top of the 12th. Dust Devils reliever Clint Tilford walks two of the first three batters he faced, and both came around to score on Jetsy Extrano's two-run triple to right center.
Mike Dowd then drove Extrano in with a single over second base for a 5-2 AquaSox lead.
