* 1972 -- Pasco's Dave Boyles powered his 1957 Chevrolet to victory in the hobby A trophy dash at Tri-City Raceway.

* 1960 -- In the interest of boating safety, Kennewick Flotilla 98 of the United States Coast Guard Auxilliary staged a marine emergency flare demonstration on Clover Island.

* 1956 -- Richland's Gene Conley, seeking his first win in a started game for the Milwaukee Braves, came out neither winner nor loser when Brooklyn scored a 3-2 victory over the Braves. Conley gave up two runs in the first inning but then pitched shutout ball through the seventh. He was replaced in the eighth by Ernie Johnson, who gave up the game-winning home run when faced against Brooklyn's Duke Snider.
