The first chapter of a Department of Energy film explaining the Hanford nuclear reservation has won a Northwest Emmy Award.
The initial installment of The Hanford Story gives an overview of the site's history and current environmental cleanup.
It was produced by Lockeed Martin Creative & Strategic Services.
The Emmy for best Historical/Cultural-Program/Special was presented at the regional ceremony in Snoqualmie on Saturday. The 17-minute film cost $150,000.
Charter Cable will be showing the film this month on channel 99 at 8 a.m. Saturdays and at 9:30 a.m. Sundays and is at youtube.com/hanfordsite.
