* 1989 -- Kennewick's Lenny Ayres and Eric Jones, and Craig Nelson and Randy Young of Hanford were all named to the All-State high school baseball series.

* 1988 -- Hanford's Ryan Hoff, who was selected the most valuable player in the high school baseball feeder game in Yakima, was selected to participate in the All-State games. Also selected were Walla Walla's Jeff Cochran and Jon Gradwohl.

* 1952 -- It was "free pass night" in Salem as the Tri-City Braves and host Senators combined for 23 walks in a Western International League baseball game. The Braves, who took advantage of 13 walks, won 9-2 and took control on John Kovenz's two-run single in the fifth.
