* 1989 -- Pasco's Ron Hockaday, Richland's Mike Jones and Hanford's Craig Elder helped Lower Valley register a doubleheader split against Upper Valley in the All-State feeder games. For their performance, each player was nominated for the All-State game to be held later in the month.

* 1987 -- Mark Hoitink, a 23-year-old Kennewick native, sprinted away from a pack of runners with 440 yards left in the Miracle Mile in Richland, passing local legend Pat Kenworthy to win the race in a personal-best 4 minutes, 12.32 seconds. Kenworthy finished in 4:18.16. Kim Spir, a former miler at the University of Oregon, repeated as women's champion with a time of 5:08.25. She outdueled Pam Jensen, who finished two strides behind in 5:08.80.
