Teen dies in drive-by shooting in Sunnyside

SUNNYSIDE -- Sunnyside police are investigating a drive-by shooting late Friday night that left a 17-year-old boy dead.

The teen, whose name is being withheld, was in a car at the intersection of South 11th and Idabelle Avenue when a red four-door car with several occupants pulled up alongside.

Occupants of the red car opened fire on the victim car and hit the 17-year-old in the head. He was taken to a hospital in Yakima where he died several hours later.

A 16-year-old boy was shot in the hand, police said.
