Matt Mason tossed eight shutout innings for Kiona-Benton in the 1A Region III tournament, before Tenino exploded for seven runs in the ninth inning to eliminate the Bears 7-0.

Tylor Cavin matched Mason inning for inning, blanking Ki-Be for eight innings to pick up the victory before Zack Chamberlain got the save.

Tenino beat Zillah 8-4 to advance to the 1A state semifinals.

Burbank falls in quarterfinals

Columbia-Burbank's baseball team defeated Freeman 5-1 in the first-round of the state 1A tournament at Eastmont High School.

However, the Coyotes lost 16-3 to Bellevue Christian in the quarterfinals to end their season.
