RICHLAND -- If it is the postseason, then chances are Richland baseball is back at its best.
After all, those four state championship banners aren't hanging on the fence at Bomber Field for nothing.
Syd Hall threw six innings of three-hit ball, and Kenton Brunson's solo home run revved up a six-run outburst in the third inning that was more than enough for the Bombers in a 14-0 home victory over Moses Lake on Tuesday in a CBBN/GSL 4A sub-regional semifinal.
"We played well," Richland coach Ben Jacobs said. "Syd pitched well. He was on."
The Bombers (18-5) have qualified for regionals and will face Walla Walla (19-6) for the sub-regional title Saturday at a time and site to be determined.
The game had been scheduled to be played at Ferris, the top seed from the Greater Spokane League. But after Wa-Hi thumped the Saxons 12-0 in Spokane in the other semifinal, neither CBBN school wanted to drive back to Spokane.
Ferris (18-3) and Moses Lake (10-16) will play Saturday in Spokane for the third and final seed to regionals.
Hall, who threw a no-hitter in Richland's district win over Davis, was back at it, needing just 63 pitches to breeze through six innings.
"He just throws strikes and makes 'em hit the ball," Jacobs said. "The guy's a stud."
Brunson's fourth home run this season got things going in the third. Jarrod Turner had a double in the frame, but mostly the Bombers strung together singles and free passes.
"The big deal about that inning is we had five hits and two walks and a hit batter," Jacobs said.
Corey Morris finished 3-for-4 with two doubles and five RBIs for the Bombers. Zach Rapacz also had three hits.
Moses Lake advanced to the sub-regional semifinals with a 6-0 win over Mead in an earlier loser-out game.
Nick Laszlo threw a three-hitter, and the Chiefs took advantage of four walks and two hit batters in a five-run second inning.
