'Hoodwinked Too! Hood Vs. Evil' gives wink or 2 and some decent laughs

Hoodwinked Too! Hood Vs. Evil is a sequel to 2005’s original twist on the Little Red Riding Hood fairytale.

It took a tongue-in-cheek police detective view at what happened at Granny’s in the fairy tale of old and gives you the perspective of all the characters involved.

Fun idea. Not a fun movie.

The sequel trips lightly into secret agent territory. Red and Granny are part of the secret sect Sister Hood. They’re a ninja trained secret agent group of women with an all-powerful secret recipe that a wicked witch wants. She kidnaps Hansel and Gretel to get it from them. The Big Bad Wolf blows an opportunity to nab the witch. Red is forced to team with him and the plot’s focus is on how Red, Granny and the wolf rescue the gingerbread munching pair.

Penned by the people who did the original, Hoodwinked Too! does what the first film did not. It sustains the cleverness and creativity needed for a positive recommendation. The flick has some fun moments but the fun is found in the clever writing and is going to work a lot better for adults than the kiddos.

BTW, you can find this in three-dimensions and two. The animation value of either is so-so.

Mr. Movie rating: 3 1/2 stars
