* 1982 -- University of Hawaii defensive back Mark Kafentzis of Richland was an eighth-round selection of the Cleveland Browns in the NFL draft. Kafentzis, who started the previous season for the Rainbow Warriors, played for the Richland Bombers and was a member of CBC's national championship team before going to Hawaii.

* 1975 -- The Richland boys finished second to Kent Meridian by 1.2 points at the State Sophomore Gymnastics Championships in Tacoma. Richland's Jim Bower was the individual runner-up to Kent Meridian's Tom Hardin. Bower won the horizontal bars and placed second on the pommel horse and parallel bars.
