* 1989 -- Erik Stine scored twice in the first half and Eric Wilz and Tom Crosier added goals within the first four minutes of the second as Kamiakin extended its winning streak to seven games with a 4-1 Big Nine Conference boys soccer victory over Kennewick at Edison Elementary.

* 1959 -- Benton City businessman Jim Surch became the second Tri-City area man to receive a referee's license, announced boxing inspector A.J. Mouton. The other licensed ref is Marv Faris of Richland.
