* 1988 -- Brenda Kjarmo scored three goals to help the Tri-City Strikers defeat the Spokane Scotties 4-1 in U-13 girls select soccer play at the Hanford Playfield complex. Jennifer Bono had Tri-City's other goal, and Danielle Farwick and Rachel Desidesidero served in goal for the Strikers.

* 1965 -- Dwayne Keller, a 17-year-old Kennewick High School junior, finished second to Ray Sanchez of Cheyenne, Wyo., at the National AAU Freestyle Wrestling Championships at the San Francisco Olympic Club. Keller won four consecutive matches during the day before losing to Bill Bush of Bingham-ton, N.Y. Meanwhile, Jerry Conine, a former Washington State football player and wrestler, claimed the 213-pound division title.
