* 1984 -- The Columbia Basin College men's golf team took the first five places to capture the Central Washington University Invitational at Yakima Country Club. It was the third consecutive win for the unbeaten Hawks. Jeff Jarvis took medalist honors with a 145, and Dave Herold finished one shot behind.

* 1971 -- Pasco senior guard Noble Johnson, the first Tri-City athlete so honored, was named the state's outstanding prep basketball player of the 1970-71 season by the Washington Sportswriters Association. The 5-foot, 11 1/2-inch playmaker sparked the Bulldogs to second place in the Class AAA state tournament the previous month. His brother Dick was named All-State in 1968.
