* 1959 -- Walla Walla fireman Warren Buehler hit 862 of a possible 900 targets to win the Alva M. Jackson Memorial trophy during the Indoor Pistol Tournament at the Pasco Rifle and Pistol Club range.

Also, Rolland Hall of Benton City turned in the fastest time and grabbed a first-place win in the medium weight class at motorcycle races in Lewiston, Idaho. Hall, under the sponsorship of Motorcycle Shop in Richland, sped to a 29.13-seconds finish and ran in three heats plus a main event. Other Tri-Citians winning honors were Jim Rusk of Benton City, who took fifth, and John Osborne of Kennewick.
