* 1977 -- Kevin Heinan tossed seven shutout innings for Connell, allowing just two hits in a 2-0 home win over Royal. He struck out 11 batters while walking none to improve the Eagles' record to 4-3. Jerry Muhlbeier and Scott Smith each had RBI singles for Connell.

* 1966 -- Defending champ Don Bies and Bill Derickson, both of Seattle, and Richland's Tom Everham each shot 2-under par 68s on the Broadmoor course to share medalist honors at the opening of the annual State Pro Match-Play Golf Tournament.
