* 1997 -- Brian Boucher of the Tri-City Americans was named the Western Hockey League's goaltender of the year at the league's annual awards banquet in Calgary.
* 1979 -- Washington Lumberjacks center Jeff Cook was named the Western Basketball Association's MVP. Cook averaged 15.9 points and led the league with 12.6 rebounds. Teammate Walter Jordan also was named to the league's first team.
