* 1982 -- Shari Biggs scored 21 points, including all eight of Richland's first-quarter points, to lead the Bombers to a 50-45 victory over Bellevue in the fourth-place game of the Class AAA state girls basketball tournament at Hec Edmundson Pavilion in Seattle. "We wanted to get at least one Seattle team, and we did," Richland coach Charlie Bussman said. "We feel we beat one of the best teams on the west side, so we're happy with that."

* 1977 -- Jockey Ken Hart rode De Moon to victory in the $29,561 Fun Sun Futurity at Sun Downs. Gary Lawson of Grace, Idaho, owned De Moon.

* 1962 -- Yakima Bears president Dave Ross said the Northwest League team would be able to open the 1962 schedule at Parker Field, which burned down the night before. The local school district planned to clear the site as soon as insurance adjustments were made. The Bears' NWL season opener was set for April 24 in Yakima against the Wenatchee Chiefs.
