* 1989 -- Ausif Mahmood of Richland defeated Houat Sikhoummong of Canada 15-12 and 15-11 in the men's open singles championship match of the Tri-City Desert Aire Open in Richland. Mahmood also won the singles title the previous year. In the women's title match, Richland's Henrietta Norager, a foreign exchange student from Denmark, defeated Penny Graves of Eugene, Ore., 11-7 and 11-9.
