* 1982 -- The Hermiston boys basketball team suffered a 79-71 loss to West Albany in double overtime in the opening round of the Oregon Class AAA tournament in Portland. Kirk Tibbets finished with 29 points to lead West Albany, while Jack Bellinger scored 18 for Hermiston, which had not won a tournament game since 1960.

* 1957 -- During the second weekend of the seven-weekend Washington State Women's Bowling Tournament in Richland, Ruby Holt of Sedro-Woolley took the singles lead with a 650. Mildred Cooper of Fort Lewis was second in the standings with a 608 rolled the first weekend, and Joyce Wheeler of Pasco was third with a 598.
