* 1989 -- The Seattle Post-Intelligencer named Kennewick boys basketball mentor Don Meneely as Washington state's coach of the year. The paper also selected Pasco center Debbie Sporcich to the P-I all-state girls team. Kelly Blair, who led the Prosser girls to the state A title, received honorable mention. Meanwhile on the boys' side, Pasco's Tony Beo and Walla Walla's Jason Filan were selected as honorable mentions.
* 1987 -- Andre Hans scored a game-high 23 points to lead Pasco to a 64-47 win over Kamiakin to earn a trip the the AAA state tournament in Seattle. Hans, playing on a not-quite-healed broken foot, hit an 18-foot jumper in the third quarter to give the Bulldogs their first lead of the game. Heath Dolven led the Braves with 14 points.
* 1961 -- The Richland Bombers boys failed to qualify for the AA state basketball tournament for the first time in eight seasons, losing to Eisenhower 56-54 in the Yakima Valley District tournament. Bombers sophomore Jim House scored 22 points but was matched point-for-point by Ike's Mack Graves.
