* 1975 -- Sunnyside came back from an unusual deficit to start the game to beat Prosser 97-69 in the Mid-Valley League district semifinals. The Grizzlies gave the official scorer wrong uniform numbers and thus were assessed five technical fouls. Kelly Marley sunk all five free throws for a quick 5-0 Mustangs lead. But Sunnyside's Chris Golob (33 points) and Larry DenBoer (31) went on to combine for 64 points in the win.

* 1969 -- Ron Howard hit two free throws with seconds remaining to give coach Don Monson's Pasco Bulldogs a 44-42 win over Richland in the Big Eight district semifinal at Eisenhower High School. Howard finished with 24 points to lead all scorers. Bill Henniger scored 12 points to lead the Bombers, who snapped a five-game winning streak.
