Prosser residents recently turned up at a public meeting to oppose low-income housing project. If the issue is about location, opponents ought to be offering Catholic Charities Housing Services a better alternative.

Some federal lawmakers lean toward cutting their own pay. This is an easy idea to support. It won’t save much money but the symbolism is important.

State Democrats are considering an end to caucus system in favor of a presidential primary. Holding an election for one party is a silly idea, so unless the GOP agrees, it’s not worth exploring.

Donations will help the current crop of teen offenders finish their juvenile drug court requirements but the program is in jeopardy after that. The entire judicial system supports drug court for a reason — it works. Every effort should be made to save it.

Judge Craig Matheson recognized the public’s right to know what’s happening in our courts and ordered that search warrants involved in a deadly robbery attempt in Kennewick be unsealed. It’s tough to balance open government and a defendent’s right to a fair trial — but Matheson does it right.

New Benton County Coroner John Hansens hit the ground running and we’re appropriately impressed.

The Port of Kennewick has approved a plan for upgrades to Vista Field. Until private developers jump into the mix, Kennewick’s airport falls short of the vision.
