I am writing because I do not believe the people of the Tri-Cities or other surrounding areas are aware of the proposed development of Cargill Pond in Burbank.
The Port of Walla Walla and Army Corps of Engineers are proposing a developed park and skateboard park for that area. Our community is surrounded by the McNary Wildlife Refuge, and I would like this area to stay nature for the fishermen, swimmers and the wildlife that use it.
Deer, small mammals, waterfowl and even eagles use this pond and enjoy it in its natural state and would not like it to be spruced up as a well-manicured park and skateboard park. I also feel it is a big waste of the port's money to beautify the entrance to this area.
Please join me in letting these two agencies know that some of us like Cargill Pond just like it is. Check out the port's website (tinyurl.com/cargillpond) to see a map of what is proposed.
