* 1973 -- Richland's Dan Myers and Mike Smith, both members of Sand and Sage Sports Car Club, posted top times in their respective divisions at the 7th Wenatchee Two-Day Autocross at Pangborn Airport. Myers took top honors in the MS Class driving a Mazda RX-2, and Mrs. Smith won in the MPP Class and Women's Division in a Datsun 240-Z.
* 1977 -- Kennewick's George Fraga ran a 11/2-mile course in 8.26 to capture the freshman race and establish a new record in the Hat Rock Park cross country race.
* 1977 -- Othello kicked off its 1977 football campaign with a 39-0 stomping of the East Valley Red Devils in Moxee. It marked the first game for both teams in the Mid-Valley League and the head coaching debut of Huskies mentor Grover Garvin.
* 1988 -- Sunnyside fullback Tracy Murphy rushed for 88 yards and a touchdown and tailback Chris Reyes added 69 yards and another TD as the Grizzlies blanked host Toppenish 19-0 in a nonleague opener.
