By Kristin M. Kraemer, Herald staff writer

PASCO -- An Othello man pleaded innocent Tuesday to charges he threatened to kill a Franklin County sheriff's deputy and the officer's family after being arrested for DUI.

Alberto Rodriguez-Martinez, 27, is set for trial Oct. 27 in Franklin County Superior Court for felony harassment and DUI, a gross misdemeanor.

Rodriguez-Martinez was pulled over in a traffic stop Aug. 27 on Clark Road near Cemetery Road. He failed the sobriety field tests and was arrested, Deputy Terry Brown wrote in court documents.

Rodriguez-Martinez then made threats against the deputy and his family, like, "You're gonna regret it, fool, you'll see later on," documents said.

The threats also allegedly included racial comments and references to "gangbangers" and that police are too slow to catch them. Rodriguez-Martinez also allegedly said he would be out within three or four months to follow through on his threats.

He remains in the Franklin County jail on $30,000 bail.

Yakima man faces trial in theft of 4-wheelers

PASCO -- A Yakima man faces trial Nov. 17 for allegedly taking two Arctic Cat four-wheelers from a business with claims that he would be paid $500 to deliver them to another store.

Donny John Seal, 33, pleaded innocent to second-degree burglary and first-degree possessing stolen property, both felonies, and possession of burglary tools, a gross misdemeanor.

According to court documents, Pasco police Officer Corey Smith stopped a pickup early Aug. 19 when the truck improperly turned onto "A" Street by crossing into the inside lanes of the four-lane road.

Smith stopped the truck, which was pulling a flatbed trailer with two newer four-wheelers on back.

Justin Everett Warner was the driver and Seal, who owns the truck and trailer, was in the passenger seat.

As Smith was getting insurance and registration information from the men, another officer arrived and discovered the four-wheelers had been reported stolen in Yakima, documents said.

Warner also reportedly had a suspended driver's license and a Yakima warrant.

Seal told police that he just picked up the four-wheelers and was being paid to deliver them to a Walla Walla store. "He was told they were not stolen yet he suspected they were," court documents said.

Warner denied any involvement.

The four-wheelers were estimated to be worth $3,000 each, documents said.

Warner, 28, also is charged with first-degree possessing stolen property. His trial is set for Oct. 13.

Pasco man found competent to face trial in luring case

PASCO -- A Pasco man was found competent to stand trial for allegedly trying to lure four young boys to his house.

The luring case again Neftali Silverio Camacho, 28, had been on hold while he was evaluated by staff at Eastern State Hospital. A psychologist determined he is competent, and recommended the judge make the same finding.

Camacho's trial is Nov. 3.

Court documents claim Camacho went inside the Rite Aid drug store on June 10 to wire money by Western Union.

A store employee said Camacho was leaving the North Fourth Avenue store when he stopped and talked with four boys, ages 7 to 10. A clerk said she heard Camacho ask if they wanted to come to his house to watch videos, documents said.

When they declined, Camacho allegedly said, "Come on. It will be fun," and gave them his address on Shoshone Street.

In an interview with police, Camacho said, "I just went to Rite Aid and sent my girlfriend some money. I did nothing wrong. I just asked some kids to come over and watch videos. It's a neighborhood tradition," court documents said.

Camacho had been representing himself but on Tuesday, Judge Vic VanderSchoor strongly suggested that an attorney handle the case. Camacho agreed, and attorney Karla Kane was appointed.
