Account set up for police officer

By the Herald staff

An account has been set up at US Bank to help the family of a Kennewick police officer recovering from burns to his head and hand at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

Officer Dale Kuehny is in serious condition but is showing signs of improvement, Kennewick police reported. He was burned Thursday while he was off-duty and working on his personal car at home. The fire started in the car's engine compartment.

Kuehny was taken to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland, then flown to Harborview.

Fraternal Order of Police and the Kirkland and Seattle police departments have helped Kuehny's family during his hospital stay, Kennewick police said.
