WALLA WALLA -- Hannah Duffy had a goal and an assist to lead the Hanford Falcons to a 3-1 season-opening nonleague girls soccer victory over the host Walla Walla Blue Devils on Saturday.
Cari Exarhos and Jessi Frey scored as well for Hanford. Paige Pontarollo scored on a free kick for Walla Walla.
"It was actually an excellent first half," Hanford assistant Glen Ledgerwood said. "Great possession, players were moving well, one- and two-touch passing. The second half wasn't as pretty to watch."

KENNEWICK -- Hannah Duffy and Cari Exarhos both recorded two goals and an assist to boost defending CBBN 3A co-champion Hanford on Saturday afternoon in a 9-0 CBBN 3A shutout of host Kennewick at Lampson Stadium.
Emily Busselman and Cecily Bader split time in-net for the Falcons, but they encountered little threat from the Lions offense as of the two goalkeepers only Bader notched a save on the day.
Bret Baysinger scored Hanford's first two goals over a span of 23 minutes.

KENNEWICK -- Heather Johnson did a little bit of everything Tuesday for the Southridge girls soccer team.
Johnson scored two goals in regulation, added the game-winner in the shootout and played goalie during the shootout, leading the Suns to a 6-5 shootout win at Hanford in CBBN 3A action.
"It was a wild game," Hanford assistant coach Glen Ledgerwood said. "It was a fun game to watch, though we weren't expecting anything like that.

KENNEWICK -- Heather Johnson scored twice and Southridge's defense put the clamps on Pasco in a 3-0 win over the Bulldogs on Tuesday night at Southridge High.
The victory pushed the Suns, who placed third in state last fall, to 2-0 in the CBBN 3A and 4-0 overall.
Johnson, the 3A player of the year as a junior, scored in the 30th minute and again in the 79th as Southridge outshot Pasco 15-2.

It was the first varsity victory over Richland for the Hanford seniors.
