The Washington City/County Management Association gave Kennewick and Richland the Innovations in Local Government Management award at its summer conference in August.
The cities received the award for their ongoing efforts to improve government cooperation, said a news release.
The two cities collaborate on law enforcement, automatic fire aid, sports tournaments and animal control, among other areas.

Nominations are being accepted for the 2012 Tri-City Regional Chamber of Commerce ATHENA Leadership Award and ATHENA Young Professional Leadership Award.
The ATHENA Award is an international leadership award presented to a woman or man for professional excellence, community service and actively assisting women to attain professional excellence and leadership skills.
The deadline to nominate someone for the award is 4 p.m. Dec. 16.

The Home Builders Association of Tri-Cities announced the award winners for the 2011 Parade of Homes.
The winner of the coveted "Legends Casino Best in Parade" Award was Solferino Construction. The only builders eligible for this award were the winners of the "Best Overall" in each category.
Winners of Best Overall included Infinity Homes by P&R Construction, Inc. in Category I, Lotts Better Built Homes in Category II, Reed Construction in Category III and Solferino Construction in Category IV. Judges from outside the area determined the awards.

Allied Arts Gallery awards Richland artist
Richland artist Thelma Triplett recently was presented with the 2011 Condotta Award from the Allied Arts Gallery.
The award is given annually to an artist who has exhibited in the gallery during the previous year. Triplett was recognized for her originality, mastery of technique, and quality of execution and presentation.
The Condotta Award was established by Leola Condotta in memory of her husband Denny, who died in 2004. The couple were avid supporters of the Tri-City arts community, said Bob Allen, a spokesman for Allied Arts Association.
