The Prosser Boys & Girls Club is set to open Tuesday. The new club at 823 Park Ave. will initially only serve kids in grades 1-5 during the day after school.
The Prosser Boys & Girls Club is affiliated with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Benton and Franklin Counties. The organization has grown to include 11 sites in Finley, Kennewick and Pasco and serves more than 2,500 members annually.
ConAgra Foods Foundation has donated $15,000 to support "Healthy Habits" programs at the Prosser club.
Executive Director Ron McHenry said the donation, the largest received by the club so far, "will not only provide staffing for regular activities in nutrition and healthy living through our Healthy Habits initiative, but will allow us to integrate organic, locally grown fruits and vegetables into an expanded snack program."
The donation also will provide food for activities targeting teens in winter and spring.
