OTHELLO -- Three people were injured Thursday evening in a two-car collision on Highway 17 five miles north of Othello.

The Washington State Patrol said a 1994 Dodge Intrepid driven by Rardo Cuetero Cruz, 32, of Othello, was westbound on Herman Road at the intersection with Highway 17 just after 6:15 p.m. when he tried to turn left into the northbound lane.

His vehicle hit a 2009 Chevrolet Aveo in the northbound lane driven by Jacquiline Sanchez Contreras, 36, of Moses Lake, the patrol reported.

Sanchez Contreras, her passenger Bruno Belize, 51, of Moses Lake, and Cuetero Cruz were taken to Othello Community Hospital for treatment of injuries. Their conditions were not immediately available Thursday night.

The patrol said Cuetero Cruz failed to yield. He also was cited for having no valid operator's license, the patrol said.
