Rattlesnake Hills wine group hires marketing director

August 17, 2010

ZILLAH — Shannon Hitchcock has been named executive director of the Rattlesnake Hills Wine Trail.

She replaces Shannon Bird, who is leaving after four years.

Hitchcock is a graduate of Washington State University with a degree in communications. Her work experience includes five years with the Yakima Herald-Republic, the Washington State Department of Agriculture, owning her own business and most recently as sales and marketing director for the Casper (Wyo.) Star-Tribune.

“After four long winters in Wyoming, we decided as a family we missed Washington," Hitchcock said in a news release. "When I saw this position advertised online I immediately thought to myself 'Dream job!' "

Hitchcock added, "The wines sell themselves. My job is to invite consumers into our tasting rooms by shouting from the roof tops on the value and superior quality they will find with Rattlesnake Hills Wine Trail wines."

Bird, who owns several tax service offices in the Yakima area, is leaving to focus on her business.

The Rattlesnake Hills Wine Trail is a nonprofit association for the 17 wineries within the Rattlesnake Hills AVA.
