RICHLAND -- Richland High School senior Chelsey Bettinson has been named to the AVCA High School All-American watch list.
The list of 48 All-Americans will be announced in November.

The Tri-Cities Fever added another quarterback to its roster this week, signing Kasey Peters out of Rocky Mountain College in Montana.
The Fever had already re-signed last season's starting quarterback, Houston Lillard, last week.
Peters, a three time NAIA All-American, is 6-foot-3 and weighs 225 pounds. He passed for just over 10,000 yards in the three years he played from 2008-10.

Zeke Castro helped Pasco get ahead early with a pin of Ben Jorgensen at 103 pounds. Hermiston sophomore Brandon Larson at 152 provided one of three straight pins.
1998 -- Sophomore post Emily Faurholt scored 34 points and pulled down 14 rebounds to lead the Kennewick girls basketball team to a 61-50 win at Hermiston. "She's a good player and she had a great game," said Hermiston coach Mike Royer. "But we made her look like an All-American tonight."

KENNEWICK -- Southridge three-sport star Matt Mendenhall made a verbal commitment to play baseball at Washington State University, ending speculation that he might join his brother, Andrew, a baseball player at the University of Oregon.
Matt, an all-CBBN performer in football, basketball and baseball, weighed his options carefully before deciding on the Pullman school.
"It's a lot closer than other schools, and I've got a lot of friends there," said Matt, who was told he would play third base under Cougars coach Donnie Marbut. "Basically, I'm going up there to hit the ball."
