TOUCHET -- Walla Walla emergency crews were called to the Walla Walla River off Byrnes Road near Touchet on Wednesday night for a possible drowning.

Initial reports are that a swimmer jumped from a 10- to 14-foot cliff and was knocked unconscious.

Other swimmers in the area could not pull the person to safety.

Rescuers were called about 7:20 p.m.

The Walla Walla County Sheriff's Office said no information would be released until today.
