LEWISTON, Idaho -- Matt Mendenhall, Tyler Morfin and Spencer O'Neil each drove in two runs to help the Kennewick Bandits top Sumner in the Dwight Church Tournament opener in Lewiston, Idaho.
Morfin and Mendenhall had three hits apiece, including Morfin's two-run home run in the top of the sixth inning.
The Bandits will play two pool games today before bracket play begins Saturday.

SPOKANE -- Kenton Brunson accounted for four runs for the Twin City Titans in an 8-0 win over the Hanford Flames at the Best in the West tournament in Spokane.
Brunson went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs.
Mike Dunford and Drew Oord combined for 4 RBIs. The Titans dropped their next game 6-2 against Spokane, despite outhitting the Dodgers 12-7.

Kennewick baseball player Trek Stemp and Kamiakin's Khadidja Toure (basketball) and Lindsey Kamphuis (softball) and are set to sign letters of intent to Division I universities.
Stemp will sign on the line to play ball at Washington State University in a ceremony at Kennewick High at 11:15 a.m. He is one of two local ballplayers headed to WSU, with Southridge's Matt Mendenhall also bound for Pullman.
Three more local players already are there: Richland's Brett Jacobs is a junior while Southridge twins Bryce and Ty Jackson are in their freshmen year.

The Knights opened the best-of-3 series Tuesday with a 14-3 peeling of the Sweets at Borleske Stadium.
Oregon State senior Ryan Gorton led the Knights with four RBIs on three hits.
