Hanson, Strankman place second in Banner Bank Jr. Invite

WALLA WALLA -- Walla Walla's Jake Hanson shot a two-day total of 145 (73-72) to place second overall in the Boys 15-17 division at the Banner Bank Junior Golf Invitational held Thursday and Friday at the Walla Walla Country Club.

Hanson, an All-CBBN boys golf first-team selection, was edged out by Clarkston's Tyler Carlson who shot 3-under during the event (71-70) for an aggregate score of 141.

Other All-CBBN first team boys selections placing at the invite were Kennewick's Sean Prue (sixth; 76-74-150) and Nick Mandell (tied eighth; 76-76-152) and Kamiakin's Riley Hayfield (seventh; 76-75-151).

Richland's Kristin Strankman, the Herald's All-Area girls golfer of the year, shot a total of 167 (81-86) to place second in the Girls 15-17 division behind Taylor Anderson of Moscow, Idaho (83-81-164).

The Bombers' Mary McDonald placed third (87-81-168) and Hanford's Taylor Kain-Godoy (fourth; 89-83-172) to highlight All-Area girls first team finishes.
