A man was injured when his pickup was hit from behind by a car on Highway 12 near Humorist Road in Burbank around 6:15 p.m. Wednesday.
The driver of the truck, whose name was not released, was taken to Lourdes Medical Center in Pasco with neck and back injuries that weren't life threatening, said Mike Wickstrom, fire chief of Walla Walla Fire District 5. Both vehicles were driving toward Pasco.
The driver of the car accused of hitting the pickup was not hurt, said Washington State Patrol Trooper Dave Wilbur.
He was identified as Alejandro Medina-Hernandez of Walla Walla. He was driving a black Nissan Altima. The car's front was smashed because of the impact.
Medina-Hernandez, 24, probably failed to stop in time while traffic was backed up on the highway, Wilbur said. "I can't say he was speeding or driving too close."
He will be cited for negligent driving in the second degree, Wilbur said.
