B Reactor continues to be a popular tour destination, even with the number of seats for 2010 reactor tours tripled from last year.

Internet registration for all 2010 tours to the historic reactor opened at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday. Within five minutes, almost 500 of the 1,608 seats offered through internet registration were claimed.

The final seat went eight hours and 24 minutes after registration opened.

However, the Department of Energy also saved 240 seats for phone and walk-in reservations. At the close of business Tuesday, 117 of those seats still were available.

Those seats may be claimed by calling 373-2774 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. or visiting tour headquarters at 2000 Logston Blvd., Richland. In addition, internet registration will reopen at hanford.gov without notice when any cancellations are received.

Sitewide tours of Hanford also include a stop at B Reactor, but those tours filled last week. Cancellations will be posted at hanford.gov.
