WEST RICHLAND -- Thai City, a sit-down family restaurant featuring Thai cuisine, is coming to West Richland.
"The menu will be a combination of traditional Thai foods from the Bangkok and Northeastern region of Thailand," said Noy Kumsi of Kennewick.
Chuck Sheeley of West Richland, owner of the Plaza and Plaza II malls on Van Giesen Street, said Kumsi approached him about opening a restaurant months ago.
Kumsi's restaurant will be in Plaza II, 4096 W. Van Giesen St., along with Golden Paradise, a tannery, Desert Calm Massage and 2 Brothers Tactical, a shop selling firearms and accessories.
Next door, at the Plaza, are the While White Bluffs Center for Quilting & Fiber Arts and P J's Barber & Beauty Shop.
"I like to diversify, to have a mix of different businesses," Sheeley said.
The Plaza is newly built which is good for Kumsi because he can arrange everything to suit himself. But going from bare walls "is a lot of work too," he said.
Kumsi already has lined up his staff of six to seven, including his chef, but you'll see him working at the restaurant too.
"I'll be pretty much all around the restaurant. I'll run operations in the kitchen and out front," he said.
Kumsi's excited about opening his new restaurant.
"West Richland is a growing community and I want to be a part of it," he said.
Kumsi plans to open Thai City sometime in May. He's applied for a liquor license to serve beer and wine.

The buffet costs $8.95. All proceeds from lunches purchased during that time will go to the flood victims in Thailand.

Tri-Citians like their Bob's Burgers. So much so that Bob Kildall, CEO and founder of Bob's Burgers and Brew, is opening a second restaurant in Richland at Vintner's Plaza off Queensgate Drive.

"We've had our eye on this location for over a year," she said. "It just became available a few months ago, and when the landlord called, we said yes."

Prairie Belle Kitchen & Catering has opened in West Richland.
The restaurant is at 4900 Paradise Way, Suite 100, in the strip mall on the south side of Yoke's Fresh Markets.
Prairie Belle will take walk-in orders to go and offers a drive-through on the west end of the plaza.
