SPOKANE -- Cody Brockman scored a game-high 25 points and pulled down 13 rebounds, and Liberty Christian beat La Conner 62-59 in the 2B boys state tournament semifinals Friday at Spokane Arena.
Liberty Christian (21-2) will play Pe Ell (19-4) in the championship game at 6 p.m. today.
La Conner (19-4) will take on Davenport (17-6) in the third-place game.
Brockman, a 6-foot-3 senior forward, scored 29 points in the Patriots' opening win. Now he and his teammates will play in the program's first championship game, with a chance to win the school's second title (baseball in 2007).
The Patriots have finished third, fifth and fifth at state the last three years.
Liberty Christian led 26-23 at the half and used a 15-4 run at the end of the third quarter to extend its lead to 46-34.
It got interesting late, though, after Liberty Christian missed seven free throws in the fourth quarter.
La Conner's last-gasp heave from half court hit the rim.
Jake Siefken had 15 points and Brett Dustin added 12 for Liberty Christian.
Brandon Willey finished with 19 points for La Conner but was 2-of-9 from 3-point range. The Braves were 4-for-23 on 3s.
