He did a bad, bad thing

Todd Kennedy's crushing blow on Portland's Eric Doyle on Tuesday night will cost him a game or two in WHL disciplinarian Rick Doerksen's penalty box.

The Tri-City forward, who has been limited to eight games with the Americans (after being traded from Vancouver) because of shoulder and knee injuries, will find himself watching Friday's game at Everett, and possibly more, from the stands.

Wednesday night, the WHL website listed a TBD for length of suspension for the charging major and game misconduct.

Kennedy was checking Portland players into the boards from the start of his first shift. The hit on Doyle was an open-ice hit that caused Doyle to lose his helmet as he crumpled to the ice in front of the penalty boxes.

At 6-3, 212 pounds, Kennedy is a powerful guy. Tuesday's game was a bit on the rough side and Kennedy did his job -- maybe a little too well.
