Kennewick police and Tri-Cities Crime Stoppers are trying to identify a man wanted for counterfeiting $100 bills.
The phony money is actually a $5 bill that has been washed and printed as a $100 bill, authorities said.
One man was successful in passing the counterfeit bill at the Value Village store in Kennewick on Feb. 2 around 7:45 p.m.
Theres been a series of counterfeit $5 bills that have been washed to look like $100 bills that have been passed or attempted to be used around the city.
Investigators think theres a group distributing the bills and the suspects are interconnected in some way, they said.
Anyone with information about the suspect can call 586-8477 or visit www.tricitiescrimestoppers.org. Tips can also be sent by text message by writing Text TIP 411 plus the message to CRIMES (274637).
Tri-Cities Crime Stoppers pays a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information that results in a felony arrest.
