Leadership Tri-Cities Class XV seeks artists to apply for its revitalization project involving the creation of a mural at the YMCA's Martin Luther King Jr. Center in Pasco.
The planned mural is titled Three Rivers, Four Cities, One Heart: Inspiring Leadership Through Art and is a partnership between the YMCA of the Greater Tri-Cities and the 24 members of the 2009-10 Leadership Tri-Cities class.
The selected artist will work with students and the leadership class to design and paint a 75-by-10-foot indoor mural. Area artists of all experience levels interested in the project are invited to an information session at
4 p.m. Wednesday at the Martin Luther King Center, 205

Artists proposals are due March 1. The selected artist will receive up to a $10,000 commission.

In January 2007, Rich Brooks was diagnosed with renal cell carcinoma -- kidney cancer -- not long after he retired as maintenance manager for the Benton County Fairgrounds.
"He was the first person close to me to get cancer," said his daughter, Renee Dahlgren, 33, director of government affairs for the Home Builders Association of Tri-Cities. "I was going to beat this thing with information."
