Red kettles, food banks: Need continues to grow
Red kettles, food banks: Need continues to grow
Here's a little Christmastime ritual some folks follow. They keep a few dollars or coins in their purses or wallets so they never have to pass a Salvation Army kettle without giving something.
Last Saturday, a generous little boy and girl donated the entire contents of their piggy banks to the annual fundraiser. It was mostly pennies, and the kettle almost required a forklift to get it back to the office. (Well, not really, but it was heavy.)
The goal this year for the Tri-Cities is to raise $150,000 from the kettles. Last year, the total income was $124,000.
