PULLMAN -- Hermiston's Mykael Bothum and Benton City's Whitney Leavitt won events Saturday at the WSU Open indoor track meet in Pullman.
Bothum won the women's shot put for Idaho with a toss of 50 feet, 8 3/4 inches.
Leavitt, a freshman from Kiona-Benton now competing for Eastern Washington University, won the women's 200 meters in 26.02 seconds.
A number of other Mid-Columbia athletes performed well.
Freshman Taymussa Miller (Hanford), competing for EWU, finished second in the women's high jump with a leap of 5-3, then placed third in the triple jump at 35-1.
Washington State's Kyle Schauble (Kamiakin) placed second in the men's 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.26 seconds. He also was eighth in the long jump (21-7 1/2) and eighth in the pole vault (14-7 1/4).
EWU's Elise Jepsen (Kamiakin) was third in the women's high jump with a leap of 5-3.
WSU's Hilary Moore (Prosser) was third in the women's pole vault with a mark of 11-3 3/4.
In the men's 1-mile, Idaho's Luke Tonnemaker (Royal) was fourth at 4:35.31 while EWU's Peter Gilbert (Pasco) was eighth at 4:38.03.
EWU's Michelle Coombs (Hermiston) placed sixth in the women's 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.41 seconds.
WSU's Caroline Hedel (Richland) was sixth in the women's 400 meters at 59.23.
And WSU's Ashlee Wall (Walla Walla) was sixth in the women's 1-mile run at 5:24.90.
UW Indoor Preview
SEATTLE -- Richland High graduate Shaniae Lakes soared 39 feet, 9 3/4 inches to win the women's triple jump for the University of Washington at the UW Indoor Preview meet.
Western Washington University's Keefe Brockman, a Hanford High graduate, placed fifth in the men's triple jump (46- 3/4) and eighth in the men's high jump (6-5).
Swimming
Hanford graduate Miles Phillips finished second in the men's 500 freestyle, with a time of 5:17.53, to help the Linfield men defeat Pacific Lutheran 111-84 in a dual meet.
Tennis
Kamiakin graduate Caitlin Bampton combined with EWU teammate Chelsea Patton to defeat Whitworth's Megan Wingfield and Stephanie Reardon (Walla Walla) 8-1 in women's doubles play.
EWU swept Whitworth 7-0.

* 2008 -- Kennewick High graduate Kevin Tucker finished fifth overall and helped the WSU men's team place third in the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational in Colorado Springs. Tucker posted a three-round total of 5-under-par 211.
* 1994 -- Kamiakin placed third overall at the Eastern Washington swimming jamboree, led by 3x50 breast stroke team of Betsy Mishko, April Baker and Kirsten Baker.

College update: Wodrich, Swanson earn all-GNAC honors
Two Tri-Citians were named first-team Great Northwest Athletic Conference women's volleyball all-stars last week.
Lindsey Wodrich and Shelby Swanson, who both play for Seattle Pacific University, were both honored this week.
Wodrich, a senior from Richland High, was a unanimous and repeat selection at outside hitter. She led 21-7 SPU with 394 kills and had 288 digs.
