Mid-Columbia Ballet puts on 'Nutcracker'
The Nutcracker Tea Party starts at 9:30 a.m. Dec. 12 on stage at the Richland High School auditorium.
Tickets are $20 and are available at The Tri-Cities Academy of Ballet on Aaron Drive in Richland.
The event features an appearance by Miss Tri-Cities Jerrica Fowler and the servers will all be in Nutcracker costumes.
The Nutcracker Ballet opens at Richland High at 7 p.m. Dec. 11 and continues at 2 and 7 p.m. Dec. 12 and 2 p.m. Dec. 13. Admission is $22 for adults, $17 for students and seniors and $12 for ages 12 and younger.
'Still Walking' to show at Battelle Auditorium
Still Walking, a PG-13 rated film, will be shown at 8 p.m. Dec. 4 in the Battelle Auditorium, on Battelle Boulevard off George Washington Way in Richland.
The Japanese movie is directed by Hirokazu Koreeda who also wrote the screenplay.
Laddie Ray Melvin to play folk concert
Laddie Ray Melvin performs for the Three Rivers Folklife Society's Coffeehouse at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 11 at All Saints Episcopal Church, 1322 Kimball Ave., Richland.
Admission is $8 adults, $6 students and seniors. Tickets at the door.
Pendleton casino plans Christmas bazaar Dec. 5
The Wildhorse Casino will hold an old-fashioned Christmas bazaar from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 5 at the casino's event center in Pendleton.
Admission is free. There will be vendors displaying handmade jewelry, holiday crafts, woodworking, paintings and baked goods.
Benton City Winterfest set Dec. 12 at school
Benton City's Winterfest celebration is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 12 at the newly renovated Kiona-Benton High School, 1205 Horne Road.
Festivities include gingerbread decorating contest for kids and adults, games, arts and craft booths and music. There also will be a lighted parade through downtown at 5 p.m. Admission is free.
Mega Jam Blues Slam set Dec. 5 at Jack-son's
Mega Jam Blues Slam starts at 7 p.m. Dec. 5 at Jack-son's Sports Bar, 3320 W. Kennewick Ave.
The event will feature the Coyote Kings, Vaughn Jensen Band, Randy Oxford Band and Burner Brothers Band.
Cover charge is $10 at the door. Proceeds will be donated to the Randy Oxford Band's entry into the International Blues Challenge in 2010.
ACT's 'Frog Prince'continues Dec. 4-5
The Frog Prince, an Academy of Children's Theatre production, continues Dec. 4-5 at the ACT studio, 213 Wellsian Way in Richland.
Curtain time is 6:30 p.m. Admission is $5 at the door.

ACT plans auditions for 'Beauty and the Beast'
Auditions for the Academy of Children's Theatre production of Beauty and the Beast are Dec. 7-8 at the ACT studio, 213 Wellsian Way, Richland.

14 choirs join for choral fest Dec. 6 in Richland
Voices from 14 different Mid-Columbia choirs will perform at the annual Christmas Choral Festival at 4 p.m. Dec. 6 at Central United Protestant Church in Richland.
The musical celebration, presented by the Columbia Basin Chapter of the American Guild of Organists, features sacred music as well as traditional Christmas carols and anthems.
The Oratorio Chorus as well as the Mid-Columbia Mastersingers will be part of the entertainment.
One of the pieces scheduled to be presented features composer/conductor Reginald Unterseher leading the combined choirs in the Hallelujah Chorus from Handel's Messiah.
The choirs represent about 400 voices and six organists during the 11⁄2 -hour concert. There also will be piano and harp accompaniment.
Pastors from various Tri-City churches also will read passages from the Bible during the festival.
A reception will follow. There is no admission fee but donations are welcome which will be donated to the Tri-Cities Food Bank.
Heidi Muller, Dan Maher team up for folk show
It's been 20 years since Heidi Muller wrote the song Good Road. The tune made history when it became, and still is, the theme song for Northwest Public Radio's Inland Folk show, featuring Dan Maher.
To celebrate the milestone, Maher will join Muller and her musical partner Bob Webb for a concert called Good Road starting at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 5 in the Battelle Auditorium in Richland.
Admission is $14 for adults and $12 for students and seniors in advance and are available at Tri-City Bookworm stores and The Octopus' Garden in Richland. Tickets are $2 more at the door.
As a traveling duo, Muller and Webb blend an eclectic mix of original tunes, as well as traditional songs. The Tri-City concert also will include some of Webb's electric cello.
